Mission failed
It looks like operation "Saving Private Zion" has failed. Apparently, someone has purchased Boombastic radio, and it's now called now Etherbeat, "The Urban Alternative". Blech. I can't help but to think of Monty Burns huffing on that rag of his. The format may not have changed much, but the image has. It has yet to be seen if this is a bad thing.
There is good news though. MusicPlusTV is off and running, and shaping up to look pretty damn good. The first issue of the magazine just went to print last night, and the website has new, largely independent music videos streaming 'round the clock. Amongst other programs, there is a hip-hop show that had our friend 3rdi as an in-studio guest on Wednesday. The show is called "Grab the Mic" and is on from 10am to 11am west coast time every day. They've been playing a few videos that he has either filmed, directed, and/or edited daily. My favorite is Krazy Native's "Toja Babya", which 3rdi shot while in Uganda, Africa last year. I hear it's up for hip hop video of the year on mtv africa. I'm proud of ya, kid. It's an ill-ass video which I think he largely filmed in the rougher parts of Kampala, Uganda. Check out Music+ anytime, although you may know the artists; it's more than likely you've never before seen the videos playing here. More to come later...
